HOPE PAVILION GARDEN AT ELMHURST HOSPITAL [QUEENS NY]

At Elmhurst Hospital Center, the Hope Pavilion Garden reclaims a narrow residual landscape as a space for restoration and calm. Set beneath the canopy of large existing oak trees, the garden includes a sequence of picnic tables and benches arranged within native-planted beds designed for year-round interest.

As one of the busiest public hospitals in New York City, Elmhurst serves a large and diverse population, supported by thousands of staff working across the campus each day. The garden provides a new opportunity to step outside, share a meal, or spend a few quiet minutes in shade.

Flowering perennials and native shrubs introduce seasonal change and support bird habitat, contributing to a sense of refuge within the hospital grounds. Completed Spring 2026, the project transforms an overlooked edge into a landscape centered upon care for both people and the surrounding ecology.
